How Twitter reacted to Coldplay, Beyonce and Super Bowl 50

For the Denver Broncos to claim an unlikely victory against the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, their defence would need to curb the offensive might of recently-crowned league MVP Cam Newton.

In a 24-10 victory, that’s exactly what they did. The Panthers’ quarterback was sacked six times by the prowling Broncos and wasn’t given room to breathe during a gritty encounter.

For Peyton Manning, the soon-to-be-40 Broncos quarterback, the win was a fitting finale to a stellar career, although he avoided making any announcement about his future after the game.

According to Twitter, millions of tweets were penned about Super Bowl 50. Bringing you all of them would be unnecessarily thorough, so here’s a sample of the best:

Shortly before 3:30 AM UK time, the Broncos were crowned Super Bowl champions and the NFL’s account rained virtual confetti on them

The Broncos’ social media team filmed the pitch invasion

The Panthers, meanwhile, were gracious in defeat

Coldplay headlined the halftime show, but Beyonce’s special-guest appearance stole it

This was her entrance

Bruno Mars was there too

But neither act made Levi’s Stadium this colourful

Back in the actual game, Broncos linebacker Von Miller took the MVP award for enforcing a number of Panthers turnovers, this one led to a Denver touchdown

Despite that, Manning demanded much of the post-match attention. He now has two Super Bowl rings, tying his younger brother Eli’s tally. Eli looked thrilled by it
