Ladbrokes Premiership: Dundee United to pick up vital points

Published:

The Ladbrokes Premiership is going old school this weekend with all of Saturday’s games kicking off at the traditional time of 3pm.

This of course means there are no televised ties but with some intriguing battles on the schedule there is plenty of reason to head out and take a game in live.

Aberdeen host St Johnstone knowing a win is a must if they are to retain any hope of catching Celtic, who play on Friday night, while at the other end of the table Dundee United will hope to make it back to back wins when they travel to Ross County.

Here’s your Ladbrokes News preview for this week’s action…

Aberdeen v St Johnstone

The Dons will be desperate to bounce back after going down 3-1 to Inverness but recent meetings with the Saints suggest this one will be far from easy. Aberdeen edged a 4-3 thriller in the most recent meeting but St Johnstone were 5-1 winners before that. This one could go either way but on the evidence goals look a certainty.

Best Bet: Over 3.5 goals @ 12/5

Dundee v Inverness CT

The confidence Caley gained with that win over the Dons will have been tempered slightly by the subsequent 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Celtic but the Caley Jags can build on their top six hopes with an away draw here. The Dees have failed to win this fixture in eight attempts but with five of those games ending all square a share of the spoils looks most likely here.

Best Bet: Draw @ 11/5

Hearts v Kilmarnock

Having been beaten by basement boys Dundee United last time out Hearts will be looking to make a statement against Killie but after drawing the last two meetings they could have their work cut out. Kilmarnock have won just one of their last four games, however, and with a 5-0 loss to the Jambos relatively fresh in the memory a return to winning way appears on the cards for the Edinburgh side.

Best Bet: Hearts (-1) @ 6/4

Motherwell v Partick Thistle

Partick took the spoils 1-0 last time these sides met to keep up a run of home win in this fixture. Just once in the last 18 clashes has the away side taken all three points, with Motherwell last achieving the feat back in 2013. Well have lost three of their last four, however, while the Jags come into the game on a two-game winning run.

Best Bet: Partick Thistle to win @ 7/4

Ross County v Dundee United

The Terrors’ Premiership obituary was already being written but United haven’t read the script and are determined to make a real fight for survival. This was evidenced by their win over Hearts and having beaten the Staggies already this season Mixu Paatelainen’s side will hope to build on that victory.

Best Bet: Dundee United @ 13/5
