Ladbrokes Premiership: Hearts to heap more misery on Dundee United

Published:

Aberdeen may well be level on points with Celtic by the time the Bhoys take to the field to play Inverness this weekend but with the Hoops at home to Inverness the odds suggest Ronny Deila’s men will restore their three-point cushion at the top.

Less certain though is Dundee United’s ability to halt their slide toward the Ladbrokes Championship as they welcome an in-form Hearts side to Tannadice.

Elsewhere Kilmarnock face Dundee, Ross County host Hamilton and St Johnstone welcome Motherwell.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of this weekend’s Ladbrokes Premiership action…

Celtic v Inverness CT

The Bhoys bounced back from their 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen with a comfortable 2-0 win over Ross County and will expect to build on that as they welcome the Caley Jags to Parkhead. Inverness did what Celtic couldn’t last timeout when beating Aberdeen 3-1 but with that win their only victory in three attempts and Celtic winning five of their last six a home win looks most likely.

Celtic have scored 12 goals in their last three meetings with Thistle so backing Celtic to overcome the handicap could pay dividends.

Best Bet: Celtic (-2) @ 11/8

Dundee United v Hearts

Dundee United mini-revival – a 5-1 win over Kilmarnock and a 0-0 draw with Hamilton – ended with a resounding 3-0 defeat to Motherwell last time out and with Hearts unbeaten in seven anther defeat looks nailed on.

The Jambos won both of last year’s meetings and have kept a clean sheet in four of their last six against all comers.

Best Bet: Hearts to keep a clean sheet @ 21/10

Kilmarnock v Dundee

Killie ended a run of two successive defeats with a vital win over Motherwell last timeout but that rejuvenation could prove short-lived against a Dundee side that has lost just one of their last five games.

Last time the Dees travelled to Rugby Park they ran out 4-0 winners and with an away win short priced the handicap could come into play once again here.

Best Bet : Dundee (-1) 7/2

Ross County v Hamilton

County may have won just once in five attempts but that stat can be doubled for the Accies, who have taken maximum points once in 10 times of asking.

The Staggies have won the last three meetings and will expect to make that four to cement their top six credentials.

Best Bet: Ross County @ 5/6

St Johnstone v Motherwell

Motherwell may have beaten Dundee United 3-0 last timeout but that result could prove a sticking plaster for a side that were winless in six going into that tie.

That said, few sides are further short of form in the league than the Saints who themselves are winless in seven, losing their last three.

Best Bet: Draw @ 12/5
