Jaap Stam reveals desire to return to Old Trafford

He may have left Old Trafford in acrimonious circumstances but Jaap Stam has revealed it is his dream to one day return to Manchester United.
The Dutchman won three Premier Leagues, an FA Cup and the Champions League as a player for United but was booted out of the club when making allegations about Sir Alex Ferguson’s transfer tactics in his autobiography.
The centre back was sold to Lazio for £16.5m in a move that Fergie would later describe as one of the biggest mistakes of his career.
Stam, who went on to win trophies with Lazio, Inter Milan and Ajax has no ill feeling towards his former manager and has revealed he would one day like to emulate by taking the reins at the Theatre of Dreams.
Stam has had a taste of success in a managerial capacity already, Eerste Divisdie title as assistant an FC Zwolle and following that up with an Eredivise and Johan Criujff Shield as a number two at Ajax.
The 43-year-old now wants a taste of management in his own right and is looking to earn his stripes in England, eventually working his way to the top.”
“I finished my coaching badges last season. I want to manage in Holland or England. If I develop and do well, hopefully I can get back in a role for United,” he told the Daily Mail.
“I want to develop myself and go to a team in England, so I’ve told Ajax I’m finishing my contract and then we can wait until the next season.”
Stam will next see United in action when the Red Devils welcome bitter rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford looking to overturn a two-goal Europa League deficit.
United are 13/8 favourites to win on the night but with Liverpool 1/10 to go through the Red Devils have it all to do.
