Liverpool lead the Premier League race to snap up Yaya

| 16.03.2016

With Pep Guardiola’s arrival at Man City expected to signal the end of Yaya Toure’s career at the Etihad this summer, a host of clubs are racing to grab his signature and Liverpool is the most likely destination should the Ivorian remain in the Premier League.

A move to China tops the betting at 2/1, with Inter Milan heading the list of European destinations at 5/2.

Should the midfield star choose to remain on English shores however, then a short hop along the M62 to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool leads the way at 5/1.

Shipping across the Atlantic to join an MLS side is a 4/1 shot, as is a move to PSG.

Former Man City boss Stuart Pearce has called on Arsenal to snap Toure up, but the bookies make such a move as likely as Manchester United signing the free-kick ace at 20/1.

A return to Barcelona can be backed at 8/1, while it’s 10/1 Toure next rocks up in the white of Real Madrid.

A Ladbrokes spokesman said: “Pep’s arrival all but spells out the end for Yaya Toure at Man City, and if he sticks around in the Premier League, it’s Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp who are leading the chase.”

There’s still plenty for Yaya to deal with this season though, as City chase a Premier League and Champions League trophy to go with their League Cup title.

Next up is the small matter of the Manchester derby, with City 17/20 favourites for Sunday’s clash at the Etihad, and Louis van Gaal’s United 10/3 outsiders.
