Wenger in! Arsenal boss odds-on to remain in charge

The ‘Wenger Out’ brigade may have been in full voice at the weekend but Arsene Wenger is staying put, according to the betting.

Arsenal crashed out of the FA Cup after losing 2-1 at home to Watford and the final whistle was followed by a growing number of calls for the 66-year-old to walk.

However, the boo boys may have to wait before a changing of the guard, with Ladbrokes going 1/10 that Wenger is in charge at the Emirates next season.

With Arsenal now failing in both domestic cups and trailing Barcelona 2-0 in the Champions League Gooners are facing up to the very real prospect of another trophyless season and the odds suggest it won’t be their last if Wenger remains.

It’s 4/7 that Wenger fails to win another trophy with the north London club while odds of 5/4 can be had for those who think he’ll add some silverware before departing.

That departure looks set to come on his own terms, though, with odds of 5/1 on him quitting or being fired before the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

A Ladbrokes spokesman said: “This latest setback has seen the Wenger Out calls reach a crescendo but we fancy he will leave on his own terms and not before his contract expires.”

Arsenal are next in action in Saturday’s early kick-off when they travel to Goodison park to take on Everton.

The Gunners go into that tie as marginal underdogs at 13/8, with the Toffees priced at 6/4 and the draw available at 12/5.
