Bournemouth treated to double dose of Van Gerwen drama

Michael van Gerwen PDC World Championship

Having been held to four draws in his last five matches, Michael van Gerwen has been left a little frustrated of late, but with Mighty Mike playing twice in Bournemouth tonight, the Dutchman has the chance to roar back into form.

Phil Taylor holds a four-point lead at the top of the table as the remaining eight arrow-throwing artists head to the south coast and the Bournemouth International Centre.

Mighty Mike dominates most of the statistics, notably most 180s, highest three-dart average, highest checkout and highest checkout percentage, and he’s up first this evening against Peter Wright.

The pair have fallen out on the oche in the past, but it’s been one-way traffic with MvG winning each of the last seven meetings and 11 of the last 12.

It’s 1/3 Van Gerwen kicks off his night with another two points, with Snakebite 11/2 for the win. Another draw – which has been pretty popular of late – is 5/1.

Next up comes Premier League champs Raymond van Barneveld and Adrian Lewis, with Jackpot also on show twice tonight.

Barney is 2/1 to grab a win he desperately needs to keep his finals hopes alive, while Lewis is 5/6 to repeat his victory over the Dutchman from round eight in Liverpool.

Gary Anderson and James Wade drew 6-6 on Judgement Night, and the Flying Scotsman hasn’t won any of his last three matches.

Wade – a point behind Anderson in fifth place – is 3/1 for a win which would move the Machine into the top four, while Anderson is 4/7 favourite. A repeat draw is 4/1.

Then it’s time for Taylor to guarantee his spot in the finals with three weeks to spare.

The Power could already be through should Wade not win, and he’s 1/4 to consign Thornton to defeat which would end his ambitions for another year. The Thorn is 6/1 to hand Taylor a first loss since the opening night.

And to finish, Bournemouth is in for a thrilling finale as Lewis and Van Gerwen return to the oche.

Mighty Mike won 7-4 in their initial meeting this term, but Lewis responded in March with a 6-4 Players Championship win.

MvG is 1/2 to round off the night victoriously, with Jackpot 10/3. And don’t forget that draw at 9/2.

Ahead of the action, we’re offering 7/4 on Van Gerwen to beat Wright, Anderson to beat Wade and Taylor to beat Thornton.
