Merseyside giants set to fight over Lacazette’s signature

Everton and Liverpool are both likely to offload one of their arsenal of strikers this summer, and the two Merseyside clubs will be looking to bring in a new goalscoring sensation.

According to the Mirror, both clubs have their sights set on the same man, 24-year-old Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The skilful forward has netted 16 times in Ligue 1 this season and his performances have put him on the radar of some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, who will look to prise the pacy frontman away from his boyhood club.

Liverpool are set to be hunting for a prolific striker with Christian Benteke’s exit looking likely, and the Anfield club lead the way for Lacazette’s signature at 7/4.

And considering Liverpool’s spending power, the reported asking price of £22m is unlikely to deter Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

Merseyside rivals Everton look likely to lose Romelu Lukaku, who has spoken of his desire for Champions League football and Roberto Martinez’s side are second-best to bring in the lively Lacazette at 5/2 to fill that gap.

Big-spending PSG are already guaranteed Champions League football next season and are 8/1 to lure the Lyon man from their Ligue 1 rivals, who are still battling to secure European football next term.

But it could be the English capital where Lacazette rocks up next. He’s 8/1 to join Tottenham either permanently or on loan.

Newcastle United meanwhile, are 10/1 to add Lacazette to the French contingent at St. James Park. However, the Magpies will need to secure their Premier League survival to maintain a realistic chance of signing the player.
