Ladbrokes Premiership: Celtic crowned as Hamilton secure safety

Ronny Deila made sure he will depart Parkhead having safely secured the Ladbrokes Premiership title after guiding Celtic to a 3-2 win over Aberdeen last weekend.

Patrick Roberts got the party started with his quick-fire brace putting the hosts 2-0 inside 20 minutes in front of a packed Celtic Park.

Mikael Lustig seemingly put the result beyond doubt shortly after the re-start to give the hosts a 3-0 lead but Aberdeen seemed intent on spoiling the party atmosphere after Niall McGinn and Andrew Considine reduced the deficit to a single goal with 26 minutes remaining.

However, the Bhoys held on to complete a fifth title triumph in a row and ensure that the new manager – whoever that is – will have a chance to take the club forward in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Kilmarnock were consigned to the relegation play-off spot after going down 2-0 to Partick Thistle at Rugby Park.

Steven Lawless put the Jags 1-0 up after half an hour and Kris Doolan netted the winner mid-way through the second half to relieve any play-off fears

Killie’s misery was confounded when fellow struggles Hamilton ensure their own safety with a surprise 1-0 away win over Dundee, with Carlton Morris’ eight-minute strike ultimately proving the difference.

Elsewhere, Hearts and Ross County left it late to give the fans something to cheer with Juanma’s 84-th minute effort seemingly ensuring a home win only for David Goodwillie to strike four minutes later to earn a point for the Staggies.

Motherwell v St Johnstone completed the weekend’s action and while the home side took an early lead through Scott McDonald, Steven MacLean and Danny Swanson combined to give Saints all three points at Fir Park.
