Ladbrokes SPFL Play-offs: Falkirk will prove too strong for Hibernian

| 13.05.2016

We were treated to a pulsating first leg at Easter Road as Lee Miller’s deft click and a goalkeeping howler from Conrad Logan allowed Falkirk to take a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

The Bairns look good to make those strikes count with a sixth win in seven home games tonight, as they aim to progress to the Ladbrokes Premiership Play-off Final against Kilmarnock.

By contrast, Hibernian have won just one of their last 10 games on the road, taking just one point from the Championship’s bottom three sides – Alloa, Livingston, and Dumbarton – during that period.

That form is matched by the two sides’ strike forces. Hibs’ star man Jason Cummings has just one goal in six while the Bairns’ Robert McHugh has four in five.

At 7/1 to score first and 14/1 to score twice or more, the best value could be on the ex-Airdrieonians hitman striking early – and often.

The hosts will also be feeling the fresher, with the Cabbage already having come through a hard-fought double-header against Raith Rovers to reach this stage.

Alan Stubbs’ charges do have a good record at Falkirk Stadium in recent times, but Peter Houston’s Bairns are a much-improved outfit in this campaign, so there seems little logic in backing Hibs on the basis of their 3-0 win here last season.

The best bet on a result looks to be Falkirk to win at 2/1, but those backing Hibs can do so at 11/10, with 13/5 for another draw in 90 minutes.

For those considering an ambitious scoreline bet, the Bairns have won two of their last five home games by a 3-2 margin and are 28/1 to do so again tonight.
