Lukaku ready to follow Martinez in making Everton exit

In the overly polite world of football transfers there’s often lots of public fence-sitting and plenty of non-committal quotes.
Managers usually veer away from talking about opposition players for fear of upsetting their peers. At the same time, the transfer targets themselves appear loosely loyal to their employer so as to avoid the wrath of supporters should a move collapse.
Refreshingly for anyone but Everton fans, Romelu Lukaku doesn’t subscribe to such niceties.
The Belgian has slapped his cards on the table like a high roller hitting a full house in Vegas, suggesting he has decided to leave the Toffees, has picked out his next destination and is just waiting for a deal to go through.
In quotes attributed to the 23-year-old, the striker also suggested Roberto Martinez had lost the Everton dressing room before being sacked by the club towards the end of the season.
“In my head I know where I want to go but I’m keeping that to myself,” he said. “You will know when it is concluded. I have to make a good choice but in my head that has happened already.”
Lukaku has been angling for a move away from Goodison Park for some time and his PR wagon has moved into high gear since the season-ending encounter against Norwich in May.
Two months ago the former Chelsea man suggested he could quit the Toffees for Bayern Munich or Manchester United. Earlier this week the striker also appeared to welcome a return to Stamford Bridge, while the player’s father has also been outspoken on his son’s future.
It appears anywhere but Everton will do for Lukaku, even with a new manager set to be in charge at the start of next season.
The Belgian international, who is 16/1 to be top scorer at this summer’s European Championships, was as unflinching in his assessment of the recent campaign, believing that things were “broken” between sacked boss Martinez and the playing squad.
“The team did not perform at all. We won two of our last 11 games,” Lukaku added.
