Odds slashed on Ronald Koeman taking over at Everton

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has emerged as a shock contender for the vacant manager’s job at Everton.

The Dutchman entered the market at 7/1 upon news of Roberto Martinez’s sacking but has quickly moved into 2/1.

Countryman and former Ajax manager Frank de Boer has voiced his interest in the role and remains the market leader at 1/2 but the emergence of Koeman has caused a shake-up of the odds.

Koeman’s short pricing means the likes of Manuel Pellegrini (7/1), David Moyes (9/1) and Mark Hughes (9/1) are now seemingly out of the running.

A Ladbrokes spokesman said: “De Boer remains the favourite to take the helm at Goodison Park but he’s not alone in the running.

“We couldn’t see Koeman ditching Southampton for Merseyside at the start of the week but plenty of fans are confident Moshiri’s millions may be enough to lure him to Goodison.”

The Toffees will play out the final game of a disappointing campaign when hosting relegated Norwich on Sunday.

The hosts go into the game as 3/4 favourites, with the draw on at 14/5 and the Canaries priced up at 16/5.

However with the new manager set to be given a £100m transfer kitty the Toffees players will be going all out to impress so the home win could prove the best bet.
