Palmer’s Haydock jollies to be thwarted on Channel 4 TV card

Haydock Racing

Saturday’s Channel 4 Racing is beamed into your homes from Chester and Haydock, with the latter providing no fewer than three group-level contests.

A card devoid of supposed dead-certs means enticing prices abound throughout the transmission, including the potential money-spinners below.

Remember it’s Money Back if 2nd or 3rd to the SP Favourite on all Channel 4 races!*

Nap – So Beloved – 3:10 Haydock

David O’Meara’s gelding struck for the second time in as many spins round Haydock when bagging a listed race over course and distance earlier this month.

He had Coulsty five lengths in arrears that day, a horse Hugo Palmer’s likely favourite Home Of The Brave had beaten by only two-and-a-half lengths in its preceding outing.

NB – Quiet Reflection – 3:45 Haydock

Palmer’s Gifted Master, La Rioja and Buratino will all be shorter in the betting than Karl Burke’s filly, despite the fact that she had excuses for her sole loss in five career runs.

A Group 3 scorer in France in her first run of the campaign she’ll return to less stamina-sapping ground with 3lbs of weight or more in hand on all bar one of her adversaries.

Lively Longshot – Ocean Tempest – 2:50 Chester

John Ryan’s seven-year-old has been posting some pretty unappealing form in recent runs, with double-figure finishes in each of the last four.

However, he is unbeaten in three races on the Roodee, a track he last visited in August 2014 when scoring off a lofty handicap mark of 115.

Less than two years on, he returns to his favourite stomping ground off a mark some 20lbs further down the handicap.
