Super League: Hull FC set to boost top-spot hopes with Wigan win

Published:

Hull FC have won eight of their last nine games in all competitions and the Airlie Birds are on course to notch up another victory as they visit an inconsistent Wigan Warriors side.

The Warriors have already lost three times at home this season and a combination of injuries and poor form saw them ship 40 or more points in two different April matches – against Wakefield and Widnes respectively.

Visitors Hull are Super League’s third-highest scorers and have been in excellent attacking form recently, having smashed the 35-point mark five times so far in this campaign.

A 47-18 victory at St Helens last weekend represents Hull’s biggest win of the season, so there is no better time to be backing Lee Radford’s side.

Much of the Airlie Birds recent success can be put down to the efforts of one man – Tonga international Fetuli Talanoa.

The versatile former South Sydney star has six tries in his last five matches and the smart money looks to be on another superb individual display, with 12/1 for Talanoa to score the first try and 7/1 for him to go over the line at least twice.

It’s also now 9/2 for Hull FC pair Talanoa and Curtis Naughton to both score a try thanks to our Enhanced Anytime Tryscorer Double – a tasty price considering they’ve bagged 15 Super League tries between them in 2016.

FC look the best value for win-draw-win markets at 7/4 with Wigan 1/2.

Considering the recent defensive woes of the DW Stadium outfit, there could also be plenty of fans backing a Hull win by 11-20 points at 7/1, while 22/1 says they can repeat the 21-30 point margin of victory they managed on last Sunday’s trip to Merseyside.
