West Ham setting no limits with pursuit of Premier League winner

| 11.05.2016

A brand new stadium and the genuine possibility of European football to watch in it; all West Ham need now are a few more premium quality players to grace the Olympic Stadium.

In a memorable week for the Hammers in which they kissed goodbye to their 112-year home with victory over Manchester United at Upton Park, the gossip columns have been awash with players linked to a club seemingly on the up.

Liverpool’s Christian Benteke, Arsenal’s Theo Walcott and much-coveted Marseille man Michy Batshuayi are a trio of strikers thought to be on the radar of the capital’s big movers.

But shortly after sealing that vital victory over United which seriously enhances the chances of Slaven Bilic’s men securing Europa League football, an even bigger name has surfaced in connection with the Irons.

Set for a starring role? Vardy is sure to be among the players vying for a start at the Euros

The London Evening Standard reports a bold bid of £25m will be swung the way of Premier League champions Leicester City for Jamie Vardy.

Along with several other high-profile teammates, the Foxes’ prized striker has placed himself firmly in the window after a sensational campaign in which he’s scored 24 top-flight goals with a game left to play.

A predictable swarm of interest in the former Halifax and Fleetwood man now looks to have begun in earnest with the Irons the first Premier League club to openly show their hand.

However, it’s unlikely to be a simple task to prise Vardy away. Having symbolized unity all season, the early noises from the King Power Stadium in the wake of Leicester’s fairytale achievement are that the squad intend to stay together.

This includes the leading protagonists such as Vardy. Even so, as the flattering advances roll in and prospects such as turning out at the Olympic Stadium week-in-week out become accessible, heads are bound to be turned.

Although in Leicester’s shadow, West Ham have enjoyed a superb campaign under Bilic, playing very attractive football in the process.

The Irons have never represented such an appealing proposition for new signings in the Premier League era.
