Could Leicester add this Belgian wing wizard to their ranks?

While Jamie Vardy’s new contract deal will have been music to the ears of Leicester City fans, they’re still set for a long summer with several of their key names attracting interest – but one man who could be heading into the King Power stadium is Belgium winger Dries Mertens.

The 29-year-old was a crucial part of Napoli’s success last season, as I Ciucciarelli finished second in Serie A and impressed in the Europa League.

The left-winger netted 11 goals in total, as well as providing a flurry of assists in both competitions, and that form is believed to have made him a target for Claudio Ranieri.

But what may have impressed the Italian gaffer even more is the service Mertens provided to both target man Christian Benteke and pacy Kevin De Bruyne in Euro 2016 qualifying, as the Leuven-born wing wizard produced five assists.

With the Foxes’ game focused largely on aerial prowess and lightning pace, the former PSV Eindhoven man would appear to be the ideal fit.

And with Transfermarkt.co.uk rating his value at £12m, City wouldn’t have to break the bank to bring him to the East Midlands.

Belgium face Hungary in the second round at Euro 2016, with De Rode Duivels 4/6 favourites for victory, with a draw (12/5) and Hungarian victory (6/1) unfancied by most.

Those backing the current Napoli man to get his name on the scoresheet can also back him to score anytime at 13/5. An impact like that could well make Ranieri’s mind up once and for all.
