Fans back Will Grigg to be on fire at Euro 2016

| 02.06.2016

Will Grigg has been on fire throughout the season, and punters are backing the Northern Ireland man to give them something to cheer about at Euro 2016.

The Wigan Athletic man netted 28 times last season for his club side, causing one confident punter to slap £100 on Grigg winning the Golden Boot at this summer’s sporting centrepiece – with the 500/1 odds potentially netting him a cool £50,000.

It’s 6/4 for the former Walsall man to fire one in anytime during the tournament, with 16/1 that he manages to score three or more times for Michael O’Neill’s men.

Following 11 goals in his last 10 games for club and country, the smart money looks to be on backing the 24-year-old to net at least once in France.

More ambitious members of the Green and White Army can put their money behind a hat-trick anytime at 50/1, and having recorded trebles for both the Latics and Saddlers, the Solihull-born hitman could repeat the feat on the big stage.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Will Grigg is on fire and bookies everywhere are terrified. We’re praying he doesn’t take his shooting boots to France as if the cult hero is among the goals we’ll be paying out plenty.”

“Another man cheering on Grigg will be DJ Kenno whose now-legendary chant is odds on to be picked up by fans from Iceland to Italy.”
