Real Madrid emerge as new favourites for Hazard

Real Madrid have become the new favourites to sign Chelsea and Belgium star Eden Hazard, with a move to Manchester United now looking dead and buried.

Hazard had been linked with a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, but with United closing in on Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Julian Draxler, a move north now looks unlikely with their odds rising 20/1.

That, coupled with his fine form for Belgium at this summer’s European Championships, has seen Real emerge as the new favourites, with their odds halving from 10/1 into 5s.

PSG are second in the betting at 10/1, while a swap-deal between Chelsea and Real for Hazard and Alvaro Morata is also deemed a 10/1 chance.

Should Hazard quit Stamford Bridge this summer, he won’t be staying in the capital, with Arsenal rated a 33/1 shot by the bookies and a move to the Blues’ rivals Tottenham the 50/1 outsider.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “After months of looking like a shadow of his former self, the real Eden Hazard has stood up in France this summer, and he’s reminded Real Madrid exactly what he could do should he move to the Bernabeu.”

Hazard can lay down his next timely reminder on Friday night when Belgium look to make the semi-finals at the expense of Wales, and of course, potential team-mate next term Gareth Bale.

Following his stunning solo effort versus Hungary in the second round, the 25-year-old is 6/1 to score first in Lille and 11/5 anytime.
