Betting suspended on Robin van Persie joining Rangers

We’ve suspended betting on Robin van Persie joining Rangers following a flurry of bets on the Fenerbahce striker making the move to Ibrox.

Having been left out of the Turkish giants’ Champions League squad the rumour mill has gone into overdrive regarding the Dutchman’s next possible destination.

And it appears that Mark Warburton’s Gers are firmly in the driving seat when it comes to securing the services of the 32-year-old, with Premier League outfit Stoke also reported to be interested.

This isn’t the first time that Van Persie has been linked with a move to Glasgow with former boss Dick Advocaat reportedly interested in signing his compatriot from Feyenoord back in 2002.

It could be that the opportunity to become a star in the Ladbrokes Premiership is all the former Manchester United striker needs to finally seal an exciting move to Scotland.

David Macdonald of Ladbrokes said: “The money is down for Van Persie to join Rangers and we’ve been left with no choice but to take a breather. Clearly plenty of Gers fans expect some exciting news sooner rather than later.”
