Countdown Boosts: Crystal Palace enhanced for top-half finish

Published:

Crystal Palace are the focus of today’s Countdown Boosts and while last campaign they finished just five points above relegation, Palace fans will be hoping Alan Pardew’s side can achieve much more this time out.

We’re running four specials throughout the day today and whether you think the Eagles will be flying high or struggling to get off the ground, we’ve got something for punters to get their teeth into…

08:00-12:00 Crystal Palace to score 50 or more Premier League goals was 5/1, NOW 7/1

The closest Palace have come to doing this in recent years was back in the 2014-15 campaign, when they managed 47 goals over the season.

And don’t be surprised if they better that tally by three or more this year. Although Pardew has lost both Dwight Gayle and Emmanuel Adebayor this summer, he’s been linked with Christian Benteke and Saido Berahino who would arguably be better replacements, while also bringing in hot prospect Freddie Ladapo from Margate.

12:00-15:00 Crystal Palace to be the lowest scoring team was 8/1, NOW 12/1

That being said, Palace are yet to put pen to paper in a deal for the aforementioned strikers, and failing to acquire an out-and-out goalscorer in the coming weeks could spell danger for the London outfit, who’ve spent the last three seasons in the top-flight.

15:00-18:00: Crystal Palace to finish in the Top 10 was 5/2, NOW 3/1

Palace achieved this two seasons ago, and finished 11th the year before that. It’s not an unrealistic target for Pardew to set, nor is it an area of the league that Pardew is unfamiliar with (remember Newcastle’s fifth-place finish in 2012, anyone?).

18:00-22:00: Any Crystal Palace player to score 10 or more Premier League goals was 7/2 NOW 5/1

Again, this one comes down to how Pardew does in the market. Right now he’s relying on Kwesi Appiah, Connor Wickham and Fraizer Campbell to lead the line. Berahino and Benteke managed 14 and 13 goals respectively two seasons ago but this one comes down to whether or not Pardew will sign either of his main targets.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
