Moyes looks to his past in bid to plot Sunderland success

Having announced David Moyes as the man to succeed England-bound Sam Allardyce at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland have quickly been linked with a whole host of potential signings.
A familiar favourite of Moyes tops the list, with a move for Marouane Fellaini mooted this week.
It’s believed the former Everton boss is also targeting a centre-back, a winger and a striker as he goes about turning Sunderland into something more than relegation-evading magicians.
The centre-back target could well be Aston Villa’s Micah Richards, although Moyes is likely to be in a decreasing number of people still hoping the former Man City defender will ever produce the potential everyone once believed in.
Should Richards arrive, that will likely give the green light to an exit for last season’s Black Cats star Lamine Kone, with West Brom, Everton and reigning league champions Leicester courting the Frenchman.
Moyes may head back to Manchester for his wing target too, with Adnan Januzaj linked with a move to the Wearsiders.
The Belgian was handed his Old Trafford breakthrough under Moyes, and proved to be a rare shining light during the Scotsman’s nine-month tenure in Manchester.
Over half of Januzaj’s total United appearances came under Moyes, and the arrivals of Memphis Depay, Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the last 12 months have pushed the 21-year-old further down the pecking order.
Another option for this new-look Sunderland is Charles N’Zogbia, who, despite his Newcastle past, has impressed on trial with the Black Cats and has seen his current agreement handed an extension.
And as for a striker, the club are understandably wary of relying on Jermain Defoe once more, who, despite his superb performances last season, turns 34 in October.
With Fabio Borini failing to prove himself as a regular source of goals, Moyes could yet turn to United once more, with Will Keane touted as a potential signing.
