Who is….the Colombian teenager poised to join Man City

The overwhelming majority of transfer tattle regarding Manchester City this summer has revolved around a pair of precocious talents, meaning a third has slipped under the radar.

It’s still up in the air as to whether either of 20-year-old Schalke winger Leroy Sane or Everton centre-half John Stones, 22, will be a Citizen next season.

Both are highly-coveted and this hasn’t gone unnoticed by their current clubs, who are correctly holding out for very lucrative figures for the duo’s respective signatures.

Meanwhile, with negotiations in full flow, the Etihad’s side door has been propped open to welcome a lesser-known Colombian wonderkid.

According to the Daily Mail, the 19-year-old Atletico Nacional winger Marlos Moreno will be heading to City to complete an £8m move by the end of the weekend.

This earmarked deal comes hot on the heels of the youngster’s club winning their second Copa Liberdatores title – where the fleet-footed Moreno’s four assists was a joint high in South America’s premier club competition.

The Mail also reveals that Pep Guardiola and co had to work hard to beat off competition from the City manager’s former employers Barcelona.

It’s also believed that on passing a medical in Manchester, Moreno will then be farmed out to Deportivo La Coruna for a season, to gain experience on the continent.

The boy who turns 20 in September has enjoyed huge recognition already in his home country, representing Colombia seven times to date and scoring in the recent Copa America as Los Cafeteros wound up third in the centenary edition.

If reports turn out to be true, then City fans will keep a close eye on his fortunes at Deportivo next season.
