Countdown Boosts: Man City and Sergio Aguero get today’s specials

Published:

The countdown to the new Premier League season continues, and with just four days to go, it’s Manchester City who take centre stage today.

City were arguably one of the disappointments of last season, it’s all change at the Etihad with Pep Guardiola – in case you hadn’t heard – taking over from Manuel Pellegrini.

The Citizens have spent another summer splashing the cash, welcoming Nolito from Celta Vigo, Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund, plus Leroy Sane from Schalke for a whopping £42m.

So all in all, there’s one aim and one aim only for City in the Premier League this term – win it.

And with this season’s campaign set to be one of the most competitive in Premier League history, Guardiola needs his side to come out flying…

08:00-12:00: Man City to win their first 3 games was 7/4, NOW 9/4

The fixture list – on paper at least – looks kind to City, who will open their new era under Guardiola at home to relegation-avoidance specialists Sunderland.

An away trip to Stoke follows, which could prove tough with City winning only once in Staffordshire in the last 10 years.

Come through that though, and a home tie with West Ham could see the Citizens bagging a nine-point haul as August ends.

12:00-15:00: Man City to beat Man United both Home and Away was 7/2, NOW 5/1

City have done the double twice over rivals United in the last five seasons.

With both clubs spending galactic amounts of money this summer, this year’s Manchester derbies are absolutely unmissable contests.

Can the blue half prevail home and away this term?

15:00-18:00: Man City to be the Highest Scoring Team was 7/4, NOW 9/4

City have been the Premier League’s top goalscorers for the last three seasons.

With Guardiola adding Nolito and Leroy Sane to his offensive ranks this summer, it’s going to take a huge effort for any other side to top the goal charts for the first time since 2012.

18:00-22:00: Sergio Aguero to be Top Premier League Goalscorer was 3/1, NOW 4/1

The Argentine’s Premier League record reads a stunning 102 goals in just 150 appearances.

Even last season when City struggled, Aguero was a reliable source of joy, finishing one shy of Harry Kane on 24 strikes.

Under Guardiola’s tutelage, Aguero looks destined to glean rich rewards in front of goal this season.
