MATT HOLT: MOURINHO’S MEN TO CRUISE PAST HULL IN MY 24/1 ACCA

| 26.08.2016

Last week was one to forget for us and Liverpool fans alike. Their dismal 2-0 loss away to Burnley pretty much summed the acca up, with Brentford’s failure to win away at Rotherham meaning we were two sides short yet again.

This week, I think I’m playing it a bit safer with this 24/1 shot.

All five sides are in really decent form and should hopefully see us home and dry with a tidy winner, and if one lets us down then we can take advantage of Ladbrokes’ Acca Insurance offer…

In all seriousness, it doesn’t make sense to back an acca anywhere else when you’ve got this sort of safety net, so let’s get in to it…

Everton to beat Stoke

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with what I’ve seen of Everton so far this season. Their game against Spurs is one they could have put to bed in the first half with the amount of chances they had.

Then they followed that with a well-earned win away to West Brom and an exhibition victory against Yeovil in the League Cup.

Stoke, on the other hand, were poor in their 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough before being dismantled by Manchester City.

If they are without Xherdan Shaqiri again this weekend (which looks likely) I can’t imagine them being much competition for an Everton side that will be welcoming Ashley Williams into the line-up for his home league debut.

Barnsley to beat Rotherham

Now, I know we backed against Rotherham last week and were let down but I don’t fancy them away from home at all.

The Millers have won 3 times away from home in their last 16 Championship games, and only seven times since their promotion to the Championship in 2014 – just 14 per cent of their games.

Barnsley, on the other hand, have been able to make Oakwell the fortress that was key to their promotion last season. The Tykes have won 11 and drawn 2 of their 15 games at home since Christmas.

Fulham to beat Blackburn

Here are two sides with seriously differing fortunes this season. Blackburn are still yet to win a match in the league, whilst Fulham are yet to lose a match in any competition.

They say that a dog reflects their owner, and sometimes players reflect their clubs. Take Shane Duffy for example. He’s scored 3 own goals and been sent off already this season, and now he’s gone to Brighton – leaving Blackburn even shorter at the back.

Fulham, having beaten Premier League opposition in Middlesbrough in midweek, will be on a high and looking to send themselves to the top of the league.

Scunthorpe to beat Port Vale

This one could be a little iffy and if so, Ladbrokes’ Acca Insurance will help us out massively.

Scunthorpe have started the league season in blistering form. The Iron are yet to lose and battered Gillingham last weekend by five goals to nil. Including last season, they’re ten games unbeaten in League One with nine wins and a draw.

Port Vale, on the other hand, aren’t wholly terrible. They’ve started the season in decent form but losses to Carlisle (of League Two) and Swindon show that there are vulnerabilities in the team which Scunthorpe’s potent attack could exploit.

Manchester United to beat Hull

Hull have enjoyed a rather interesting few weeks. The Tigers lost manager Steve Bruce and still only have 13 first team players, but have won all three of their games in league and cup this season and in rather impressive fashion too.

This is where it ends though, when Manchester United come calling at the KCOM Stadium.

Jose Mourinho’s men have been ruthless thus far; dismantling Leicester in the Community Shield, then Bournemouth and Southampton in their first two games of the season.

The addition of Paul Pogba makes United look like a real force to be reckoned with and don’t be surprised if it’s him that leads them to victory – with the help of a certain Zlatan Ibrahimovic of course.
