Odds fall on Everton signing multiple Man United players

Published:

With Jose Mourinho apparently keen to flog Juan Mata once again, it seems the Spaniard could be about to reunite with his former boss Ronald Koeman at Everton – and he could be the first of several players to swap Manchester United for the blue half of Merseyside.

Mata is just 7/2 to leave Old Trafford after two full seasons, with Mourinho running the risk of attracting fan ire by selling the fans’ favourite – and if the former Valencia man does head to Goodison Park, he may well find a teammate to take a taxi with.

Odds of two or more Man United players heading to Everton this summer have fallen from 12/1 to 8s.

Wayne Rooney’s place in the squad has been threatened by the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic – meaning he’s now a dark horse at 16s to don the famous royal blue shirt again this summer, while it’s 20s Fellaini makes the same journey before the transfer window slams shut.

A Ladbrokes’ spokesperson said: “The Old Trafford faithful may be wondering what the Mata is with their new gaffer, who seems intent on selling the little magician once again.”

“That’s music to the ears of Koeman, with the Toffees boss looking increasingly likely to pull off a sweet transfer coup.”

The Toffees are 8/5 to win at West Brom this weekend, while it’s 4/1 they crack the Premier League’s top six again following a difficult campaign last time out.

If they can bring in players with the experience and talent of World Cup winner Mata and England’s all-time top goalscorer in Rooney, that price could look like an absolute gift.
