West Ham want to add Real Madrid prodigy to attacking stock

| 07.08.2016

West Ham appear intent on adding to their attacking options with the pursuit of Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard.

The east Londoners have already signed right wingers Sofiane Feghouli and Gokhan Tore to their squad, but want the Norwegian attacking midfielder too, according to the Sunday Express.

Odegaard, who has been linked with a loan switch to Liverpool in recent days as well, has only made one La Liga appearance for the Spanish giants since moving from Stromsgodset in 2014.

Instead the 17-year-old has been a regular for Madrid’s Castilla, playing in 34 league games last season and scoring one goal.

Although that return in front of the onion bag isn’t particularly eye catching, the teenager’s ability to set up goals is far more outstanding.

The Drammen native laid on seven strikes for his teammates during the last campaign with Madrid’s reserves, which was the third-best tally in the squad.

Although a move to the Premier League would help gain Odegaard some much needed first-team experience, the newly crowned London Stadium may not be the best place to get it.

Not only does manager Slaven Bilic rarely play a number 10, he would also have Hammers heartthrob Dimitri Payet to leapfrog in that position.

The Frenchman was one of the standout performers in the division last season, making 30 appearances and contributing 21 combined goals and assists.

The Hammers get the new Premier League season underway with a trip to Stamford Bridge on the opening weekend.

We make them 9/2 to secure a victory and 11/4 to end the season inside the top six.
