Will Swansea smash transfer record for Higuain’s midfield provider?

When Chelsea and Liverpool have been sniffing around a midfielder, you know he’s got to have something special about him. But while neither club managed to prise Brazilian maestro Allan away from Napoli, Swansea City could be about to do just that.

The 25-year-old signed for Udinese, then managed by current Swans boss Francesco Guidolin back in 2012, and quickly became a crucial part of the Zebrette squad, playing 78 times and producing eight assists in two seasons under the experienced gaffer.

And the Brazilian has continued to grow in status since his move to Napoli in 2014, having added a knack for scoring important goals to his list of attributes – netting five times in total, including strikes in last season’s triumphs over Lazio and AC Milan.

However, with the Swans reportedly interested, a reunion with the man who welcomed him to European football could be of interest to the midfielder – especially with his intuitive partnership with hitman Gonzalo Higuain now severed by the latter’s £75.3m move to Juventus.

With Transfermarkt.co.uk valuing the Rio de Janeiro native at £14.45m, he won’t come cheap, but with the South Wales outfit having just sold Andre Ayew to West Ham for £20.5m, it’s unlikely the Swans would balk at a figure under the £20m mark right now.

Swansea begin the Premier League campaign with a trip to newly-promoted Burnley, with Guidolin’s men 21/10 for victory.

While a trip to a packed Turf Moor is a tricky trip for any club, the acquisition of a new midfield maestro – if it happens – could be the boost Guidolin’s men need for victory.
