Ibrahimovic v Sanchez: Who goes to fund Aguero in Fantasy Football?
Published:
Having now served his three-game ban in all competitions, Sergio Aguero is again available for selection in Manchester City’s next Premier League outing away at Swansea.
The Argentine was owned by over 52% of managers prior to being charged by the FA for violent conduct in the aftermath of City’s win over West Ham. Heading into gameweek six, his ownership currently sits at half the previous number.
With Pep Guardiola’s men comfortably the top scorers in the division so far on 15 goals and Aguero netting nine in just five appearances in all competitions, it will take a brave manager to go without him.
However, freeing up enough cash to afford the most expensive Fantasy Football asset in existence at 13.0m is tricky, especially for those managers to have already played their wildcard.
Harry Kane owners have a straightforward transfer move, with the Spurs man worth £10.9m. For non-owners, other players in a similar price bracket just below Aguero are Zlatan Ibrahimovic (£11.8m) and Alexis Sanchez (£11m).
There are strengths and weaknesses in keeping one over the other. Make your own decisions from the following:
IBRAHIMOVIC
Ownership
Ibra’s ownership is currently at a lofty 60.5%, meaning non-owners run the risk of being drastically dropping in rank if the Swede has a productive gameweek. Sanchez’s ownership is much less at 14%.
Chances
Across the opening five gameweeks, no player can better the Manchester United striker’s 17.6 minutes per chance. He has also had seven more shots than anyone else in the division so far. It stands to reason that if he keeps having shots at his current rate, goals are imminent.
Penalties
Referees are clearly more intent on giving penalties this term, so having spot-kick takers in a Fantasy Football squad is a good idea. Ibra has such duties for Man Utd, Sanchez may have now lost his for Arsenal after missing against Hull.
SANCHEZ
Extra points
Being positioned as a midfielder within Fantasy Football, Sanchez receives five points for scoring a goal compared to Ibra’s four. He also collects a point for an Arsenal clean sheet. Every little helps.
Better upcoming fixtures
Across the next five gameweeks of action four of Arsenal’s fixtures are as follows: Burnley (a), Swansea (h), Middlesbrough (h) and Sunderland (a). Man Utd travel to both Liverpool and Chelsea in the same period, alongside hosting reigning Premier League champions Leicester at Old Trafford.
Cost
Most simply, Sanchez is worth £0.8m less and so transferring out Ibrahimovic will certainly be easier to avoid needing to conduct more in-depth surgery to a Fantasy Football squad.
