Leicester slashed for Champions League success after Porto win

Leicester City’s Champions League odds have taken a huge tumble after recording back-to-back wins in this season’s competition.

Claudio Ranieri’s charges are making short work of their debut season in European club football’s showpiece tournament, following a 1-0 win over FC Porto last night.

There’s still a long way to go, but the bookies have already been forced to slash the Foxes’ odds of Champions League success from 40/1 into 25s, the same price as tournament regulars and 2006 finalists Arsenal.

After victory in their tournament debut versus Club Brugge, Islam Slimani’s winner at the King Power Stadium means the reigning Premier League champions have now won their opening two group games, and no English team has ever failed to progress after such a strong start.

That goes a long way to explaining the heavy odds-on of 1/33 for Leicester to make the knockout stages, while 2/9 says the Foxes top Group G.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Leicester have been loving life on the continent, and we’ve already had to slash the Foxes’ odds in light of their excellent European endeavours.”

Manchester City remain England’s best hope of reclaiming the famous trophy, according to the bookies, with Pep Guardiola’s side at 9/1.

Tottenham claimed their first win of the campaign away at CSKA Moscow last night, but they’re the Premier League outsider’s at 33/1.
