Punter misses out on mammoth £237k payout by just ONE goal

As near misses go, the following has to go down as one of the most heartbreaking we’ve recently encountered.
ONE solitary goal cost an unfortunate punter a mammoth £236,934.14 payout with League Two outfit Plymouth Argyle the guilty party.
We couldn’t believe our eyes when the betslip came through via Twitter.
The ambitious Match Result and Both Teams to Score 9-fold was an almighty combination that seemed to be all set for glory – only for the Pilgrims to end up drawing with Hartlepool.

We got in touch with the gentleman in question to get his reaction.
He told Ladbrokes News: “I’m a Carlisle fan so I was at the game against Wycombe and couldn’t believe it when I checked the slip. I never back my own team as they’ve let me down too many times.
“Towards the end of the match I was checking the scores on the Sky Sports App and refreshing it every few seconds. It just wasn’t to be I guess!
“I told the wife all about it when I got home. She’d planned to retire soon but never mind, it’s back to work for the both of us.”
Despite his disappointment, our man is still going to aim high in future.
He added: “I’ll keep using the same method and keep trying. I’ve had a few near misses now but my biggest win to date was £1,200 from a £2.50 stake in April using the same coupon. However, on that occasion the bet was a 4-fold placed in your Morecambe branch.”
