US Open: Kyle Edmund ready to trouble erratic John Isner

Kyle Edmund’s US Open adventure has already proven to be his best run at a Slam, and the 21-year-old could go further still if he can oust home favourite John Isner in round three.
Edmund waltzed past Richard Gasquet in straight sets to cause one of the biggest upsets in the opening round, before doing the same to Ernesto Escabado.
Having already recorded his first third round run at a Slam, the Beverley resident faces another stern test in man-mountain John Isner.
The pair are split by 64 ranking places, but it’s their contrasting fortunes at Flushing Meadows which means Edmund is as short priced as he is.
Isner has really struggled so far in Queens, beginning with a very suspect five-set win over world 125 Frances Tiafoe.
A four-set second round win over world 106 Steve Darcis wasn’t terribly convincing either, and Edmund – ranked a good 20 places higher than Isner’s first two opponents – must be confident of troubling the big American for a place in the last 16.
The only concern for Edmund may be the defeat in their only previous meeting, which came this year at the French Open.
Isner won in straight sets that day, and if you fancy a repeat from the big-serving 31-year-old, the bookies make it 13/8.
But Edmund should be landing at least a set tonight on the Louis Armstrong Court, and you can get 14/5 on a 3-1 Isner win and 13/2 on the Brit taking the match in four sets.
A five-set epic can be backed Edmund’s way at 7/1, while it’s 5s Isner prevails in a five-setter for the second time in the tournament.
Edmund has already caused one shock at Flushing Meadows however, can he go on and claim another?
