What the players are saying ahead of the 41st Ryder Cup

| 29.09.2016

The 41st Ryder Cup is almost upon us, and we’re set for a thrilling three days of golfing action between the best America and Europe have to offer.

Europe have won eight of the last 10 contests, but the USA – on home soil at Hazeltine – are desperate to reclaim the upper hand.

American captain Davis Love III has assembled one of the strongest USA squads for years, while Darren Clarke has welcomed four rookies to feature alongside Ryder Cup regulars Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia.

Here’s what the players are saying before the action gets underway on Friday…

Europe got suited and booted for dinner…

Rory’s been getting all nostalgic…

Dustin Johnson has been ramping up the team ethos…

Any good captions for this Justin Rose pic by the way?

One of Europe’s four rookies this weekend, Andy Sullivan is in dreamland…

And finally the great Arnold Palmer will be in everyone’s thoughts this weekend following his passing, and Rickie Fowler paid this touching tribute…

Richard loves his sport, especially if it involves the sound of tyres screaming around a race track. He's not fussy though and his '90s Premier League nostalgia and knowledge of team nicknames is tough to match.
