X Factor: Emily Middlemas hot on the heels of favourite Matt Terry

Published:

Just two weeks ago we made Emily Middlemas our one to watch in this year’s X Factor at 12/1. The 17-year-old’s Six Chair Challenge audition was arguably the highlight of the weekend on the show, and as a result our traders have slashed odds on the Scottish sensation winning to just 5/1, making her the new joint-second favourite behind Matt Terry.

So who else has seen their odds shift drastically in the last few days? Ladbrokes News takes a look at the betting by numbers so far in this series…

Matt Terry must be feeling quietly confident that he’ll make the live shows, given that the nearest challenger for the crown in his category is wildcard Ryan Lawrie (16/1).

Only Caitlyn Vanbeck has had more staked on her than Matt, but her odds have drifted to 12/1 in recent days.

Elsewhere in the Boys category, crowd-favourite Christian Burrows remains a rank outsider at 25/1, despite him being the second best backed contestant in the show.

While The Brooks entered the weekend as the group with the best chance of winning, 5AM put in an energetic performance in the Six Chair Challenge and as a result their their odds have been slashed to just 5/1, the shortest of any group to date in this series.

Don’t write off The Brooks though, they’re still thought to have an 8/1 chance of becoming only the second group to win X Factor.

Sharon Osbourne has been handed arguably the toughest task of all the judges in finding a winner from her category, with her best chance being James Wilson. He’s 14/1 to follow in the footsteps of Steve Brookstein, Sam Bailey and Ben Haenow.

Residents of North Weezy were celebrating into the early hours of Monday morning after the announcement that Honey G would be returning to the show following the news that Ivy Grace was forced to drop out due to visa issues.

And the UK’s answer to Nicki Minaj has even seen her odds tumble as a result.

Calm down, she’s now 66/1 from 100s.
