Frankie: Wicklow Brave has got every chance in the Melbourne Cup

Published:

This next week is going to be absolutely huge with the Melbourne Cup and the Breeders’ Cup both on the horizon.

I’ve got some work to take care of over here first – and it’s my daughter’s birthday on Friday – but I can’t deny that my trips to Australia and America have got me really excited.

I’ll be onboard Wicklow Brave in this year’s Melbourne Cup and I think he’s got a good chance. It’s not a vintage renewal but my horse is a good stayer with a master trainer in Willie Mullins. He’ll need a good start but if he gets well away then he’s got every chance of landing the spoils.

It’s been well-documented that this race is missing from my CV so it goes without saying I’ll be going all out to win it!

Elsewhere, Hartnell is a good horse but his best races have been over a mile and a quarter and this is a different ball game. The one I really rate is the Caulfield Cup winner Jameka while Bondi Beach is a good stayer and don’t write off Big Orange.

In terms of the event itself, it’s one of the biggest races in the calendar and it’s an honour to ride in it.

They don’t call it the ‘Race That Stops a Nation’ for nothing, there’s such a great buzz and the atmosphere is as good as you’ll find anywhere else.

Oh, and for those who may have missed it, I’ve now finally joined the world of Twitter which is very exciting.

You can follow me @FrankieDettori.

Good luck!

Frankie
