Is Pep Guardiola plotting a late steal for Bayern’s Kingsley Coman?

Manchester City are reportedly considering a bid for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, with Pep Guardiola looking to snap up the Frenchman for the second time.

Coman, on-loan to Bayern from Juventus, is in the second year of his two-season agreement, and it was believed the Bundesliga giants would make the move permanent for £19m next summer.

However, a failure to land consistent first-team football this season has led to suggestions that the 20-year-old could head elsewhere at the end of the year.

After missing the first two games through injury, Coman has started four of Bayern’s last five league games, but hasn’t lasted more than 71 minutes in any of them under Carlo Ancelotti.

The winger was also benched for the Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

It’s no surprise to see Man City quickly touted as a potential destination, given how successful Coman was under Guardiola last season.

Four goals and six assists was a handy return from just 23 Bundesliga games, but it was in Europe where Coman really made his name, seeing two goals and six assists from just eight appearances.

With Raheem Sterling stepping up a level this season on the right, the arrival of Coman on the left would see City boast a devastating pair of wingers.

City’s 1-1 draw with Everton at the weekend – their first dropped points at the Etihad under Pep – may have further convinced their new boss that more attacking prowess is required.

With blistering pace and power, there are few tipped for bigger things than Kingsley Coman and Pep knows of his talents better than most.
