Relley C looks a shoo-in to be 2016’s first X Factor elimination

The time has come for the opening live show of the 13th series of the X Factor and the main betting interest will derive from who the first act to be eliminated will be.

Favourites in the betting are male pairing Bratavio at 7/4 and there are doubts over whether the pair will appeal to typical X Factor voters.

However, with expected whacky outfits and over-the-top productions, it is likely that programme producers will have earmarked a longer stay on the live shows than a single week.

Although Honey G is also in line up in the role of novelty act, it would be a surprise if Bratavio were not saved in the sing-off if pitted against one of the other disposable acts pretty much selected for the live shows as early-week fodder.

The overs category was not shy of talented singers at judges houses, but Christopher Peyton, Samantha Atkinson and James Hughes all failed to seal a place in Sharon Osbourne’s final three.

Relley C seemed a slightly weaker vocalist than this trio, but did make the cut. The fact that her first audition wasn’t aired and her screentime has been minimal at best in the build up to the live shows has given the voting public little opportunity to generate feelings for her.

This route to the live shows is largely similar to that experienced by Lorna Simpson in 2013 and she was first elimination of that series. If Relley C is in the bottom two with Bratavio, it would be a shock if Louis Walsh’s group wasn’t saved for their novelty value.

Therefore, the 2/1 on offer that Relley C is the first elimination looks fine value, especially as it is hard to see who she would be saved against if finding herself in the bottom two.

Freddy Parker is 5/1 to be the first act out, but a contestant from the boy’s category rarely departs first. Saara Alto is an outsider to consider at 8/1, but the fact she is due to sing the famous Let It Go from the film Frozen should be enough to attract a reasonable number of votes.
