Stoke v Swansea: Hosts look good for two or more goals here

Published:

In a blink of an eye, Stoke’s run of catastrophic defending and unsavoury results has turned into four matches unbeaten with just two goals shipped.

Mark Hughes’ men have followed up 1-1 draws against West Brom and Manchester United with consecutive 2-0 successes over Sunderland and Hull.

Now Swansea arrive carrying the kind of form that will have Potters fans believing the good times will continue to roll.

The Welsh outfit are still waiting for their second league win of the season having got off the mark in that department at the earliest opportunity, against Burnley.

So chastening has the run of woe been since the season opener that Bob Bradley has been installed on the touchline as a replacement for Francesco Guidolin.

The American oversaw a narrow defeat to Arsenal in his debut, before collecting his first point as Swans gaffer with a 0-0 draw against Watford.

However, our odds don’t give the former USA boss much hope of gaining a first win in the Potteries, where the Welsh club haven’t triumphed since sharing Division Two status with Stoke in 2001.

The hosts are 21/20 favourites for victory, while Swansea can be backed at 11/4. The draw, meanwhile, is available at a price of 5/2.

One trend worth noting since the duo became Premier League rivals is the regularity with which the team playing at home has notched two or more goals.

In the 10 fixtures these two have played in the top flight, the designated hosts have rippled the net at least twice on eight occasions.

Four of the five games played at Stoke’s gaff have obliged, and it’s 10/11 that Hughes’ side net more than 1.5 goals on Monday night.
