A dismal start to the season is sadly nothing new for Sunderland fans. But if there is cause for optimism, it’s that history shows the Black Cats love a win around this time of the year.

The Wearsiders sit bottom of the Premier League with just two points from nine games, but as we’ve seen in recent seasons, this is not a surprise.

A quick trawl through recent campaigns shows that Sunderland often endure slow start to the year. But equally, they love a victory between gameweeks nine and 11.

So unless history is lying to us, Sunderland are due a win really, really soon with Gameweek 10 a particular favourite for the side in recent times.

David Moyes’ men are 7/1 to defeat Arsenal this Saturday (Gameweek 10 FYI), and that may well be an upset getting on board with.
