3 more bright young things Klopp should call on at Liverpool

Liverpool booked a safe passage into the semi-finals of the EFL Cup last night, thanks largely to a superb strike from the club’s youngest ever goalscorer, Ben Woodburn.

But while the 17-year-old winger is hogging the headlines right now, there are a host of other impressive youngsters Jurgen Klopp can call on as the Reds battle for Premier League and cup glory.

Here are the trio Ladbrokes News are tipping to get their big break and make the difference.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

The name might sound more city financier than classy full-back, but the 18-year-old is the Reds’ brightest prospect in the backline – with a series of excellent displays under his belt this season.

Creative, pacy and attack-minded, the local lad has already produced two goals and as many assists for the under-23 side this season.

And he’s shone in his brief time in the senior side, setting up Divock Origi’s opener last night in just his second senior appearance, winning the Man of the Match award along the way.. Watch this space.

Brooks Lennon (LW/CF)

The versatile attacker from Paradise Valley, USA could play his part in leading Liverpool to the promised land of a Premier League title this season, having built a reputation as a super-sub for the under-23s.

As comfortable out wide as he is at centre-forward, the athletic American offers a real aerial threat with his terrific leap and bullet headers – as evidenced by Lennon’s opener in the 2-0 victory over Everton last month.

Having once produced an assist against Middlesbrough despite only spending a minute on the pitch, it’s fair to say he’s a high-impact player. A chance in the first-team surely beckons soon.

Harry Wilson (RW)

What is it with the Anfield youth setup and immensely gifted wingers? With Lennon and Woodburn available on the left flank, Harry Wilson is doing the business with aplomb across the park.

The Welsh wizard has contributed to eight goals in his nine outings for the under-23s already this season, captaining the Merseysiders’ to a four-game winning streak along the way.

His backheeled opener at Manchester United last month showed a touch of instinctive genius, while his assertive, fearless dribbling could make him a huge asset from the bench when Klopp’s men are trapped in a tight game.

Next up for Liverpool is a trip to Bournemouth, with the visitors 8/11 to win at Dean Court for the fourth time in succession.

Meanwhile, the Reds look well priced for Premier League glory at 3/1, just a point off the top of the table.
