Bookies breathe sigh of relief as Balls is booted out of Strictly

Published:

The exit of Ed Balls from Strictly Come Dancing has been welcomed with open arms by our traders.

The axing of the former Shadow Chancellor is something to please bookies all over the country, as the 100/1 rank outsider quickly became the nation’s favourite this year, which slowly but surely saw his odds of winning tumble all the way into just 8/1.

After another perfect 40 Danny’s grip at the top of the market tightened to 4/5, however Louise is still pressing just behind at 2/1.

Ore is rated as an 8/1 chance for glory heading into the quarter-finals, leaving Claudia (12/1) and Judge Rinder (25/1) as the underdogs of the pack.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Punters had backed Ed into favouritism to be axed this weekend, and they were on the money that the Cha Cha Challenge would be a dance too far for his skill set.”

She added: “We’ve loved Ed defying the elimination odds week after week, but as the payout on him winning had reached well over £100,000, we won’t be shedding too many tears seeing him leave.”
