Diego Costa just 5/2 for sensational January Chelsea exit

Published:

Look away, Chelsea fans, because the latest odds are suggesting that Diego Costa could well be on his way out of Stamford Bridge as early as next January.

Despite the fact the Spaniard is leading the Premier League scoring charts with 10 goals from 13 games, odds of 5/2 say the Spaniard will leave the club in the winter transfer window, while it’s just 6/4 for him to go next summer.

But here’s where the English top-flight’s defenders can breathe a huge sigh of relief – should Costa move anywhere, it’s likely to be Inter Milan.

The Italian giants are 7/4 favourites to be Costa’s next destination, while traders have refused to rule out what would be a surprise move to any Chinese club at 9/2.

Meanwhile, a return to Atletico Madrid could be on the cards, with Diego Simeone’s men next in the running at 5/1 to acquire Costa’s services.

Despite bringing the striker to the Premier League in 2014, Jose Mourinho is only considered to have an outside chance of bringing Costa to Old Trafford, with 16/1 on offer for Manchester United to be the 28-year-old’s next club of choice.

The Spain international has proved himself to be one of the deadliest strikers in world football over the last few years, netting 42 goals since arriving in the Premier League.

And it’s figures like that which have led Inter Milan – who look set to be taken over by a Chinese consortium – to consider splashing the cash on the forward.

I Nerazzurri are some way off challenging for both the Serie A title and the Champions League once again, and they currently find themselves in eighth place in their respective league.

But with an expected boost to their transfer kitty of around £150m over the coming months, supporters may well see some of Europe’s top talent plying their trade at the San Siro once again.
