2017 PDC World Darts Championship: Expect records to be broken

Strap yourselves in for three weeks of top-class tungsten action, courtesy of the best players currently on the circuit.

Yep, the PDC World Darts Championship is now just days away, and to celebrate, our traders have priced up a whole host of specials as we prepare for what might just be the best three weeks of darts we’ve ever seen.

Plenty of players will be heading into this one confident of going far, although they’ll have it all to do if they’re to stop Michael van Gerwen.

The Dutchman has won a staggering 24 tournaments since the turn of the year, and he’ll fancy his chances of adding a second World trophy to his ever-growing cabinet.

And given his talent, MVG is one of a few players capable of delivering our 9-dart specials.

We’ve seen two nine-darters in one Ally Pally tournament twice before, but we’ve never seen three.

That could all change this year though, given the form of some of the players competing, and we’re offering odds of 13/5 for two or more to be hit this year.

So far, there have been nine 9-dart finishes in the PDC World Darts Championship, the first coming back in 2009 from Raymond van Barneveld…

Barney is another subject of one of our specials, as he and Adrian Lewis are the only two players to hit two 9-darters in the Worlds.

10/11 says the Dutchman hits three before Jackpot, while 4/5 says the two-time World champ beats Barney to that number.

Who can forget this moment of magic from Mighty Mike?

He was one dart away from hitting back-to-back 9-darters, and it’s 50/1 for any player to go one better this year.

Phil Taylor may not have had the best of years in terms of titles won – but write the Power off at your peril. He heads into this one as the 9/1 third-favourite.

The 14-time world champion has hit a staggering 11 9-dart finishes on television, although surprisingly, none of them have come at the Worlds.

But if anything, that makes it all the more likely for Taylor to go and hit one this year, as he just has a knack for raising the bar, and 5/2 says he makes it 12 in the next three weeks.

Of those nine that we’ve seen hit at previous World Championship events, only one has been hit in a final – that coming from Lewis back in 2011 against Gary Anderson.

And punters will be looking to cash in on the 7/2 available for another to be hit in the most important game of all.

Make sure you keep checking back over the next few weeks for a range of specials we’ll be putting up!
