Chelsea emerge as surprise favourites for Arsenal hitman

Published:

Antonio Conte has adapted wonderfully to life in the Stamford Bridge hotseat, with his Chelsea side top of the Premier League. And he could be set to strengthen his side even further with the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.

The former Udinese forward has been a revelation since his arrival at the Emirates in 2014, netting 55 times in 113 games – including a goal in the Gunners’ 2015 FA Cup Final triumph.

But with the 27-year-old seemingly stalling on a new deal and plenty of interest from other Premier League heavyweights, Arsenal fans should prepare for the possibility of losing their star man, with 5/2 for Sanchez to be gone by the end of Summer 2017.

The Blues have headed to the front of the market as 4/1 shots to sign the Chilean, with previous favourites Manchester City pushed back to 5/1, while 6/1 is on offer for him to head across the city to join Manchester United.

Liverpool round out the English interest at 8/1, with the bookies are offering the same price for a return to Serie A with Juventus.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Gooners could be in for a fresh dose of transfer woe, with the odds tumbling on yet another Emirates hero jumping ship for a bitter rival.”

Next up for Arsene Wenger’s men is the visit of Stoke, with 4/11 for an Arsenal win. Meanwhile, 3/1 says Sanchez scores two or more goals for the sixth time this season.
