Liverpool preparing £18m for Atalanta’s teenage superstar

Liverpool could be set for some major transfer activity next summer with reports linking the Anfield outfit with a move for Atalanta’s star man Franck Kessie.

The move is believed to be around £18m, but Jurgen Klopp will face competition from Juventus and both Manchester club for the 19-year-old Ivorian.

Kessie has been the driving force behind Atalanta’s resurgence this term, with the Bergamo club sitting fifth in Serie A before this weekend’s action.

A number of young talents have shone for the club this season, but it’s Kessie who has stood out.

The defensive midfielder has started 13 times for La Dea, and the club’s only defeat in their last 11 games has come to Serie A champions Juventus.

Kessie began his career with in his homeland with Stella Club, and joined Atalana in the summer of 2015.

He was immediately loaned out to Cesena, and the experienced gain during that season-loan stay has seemingly paid off.

With his stature rapidly increasing, Kessie seems destined to move on to greater things.

But with so much competition already courting the teenager, Liverpool may well have to pay much more than their initial £18m offering.

The Reds will be hoping to continue their Premier League title tilt when they host West Ham this weekend.

And the bookies’ odds of 2/7 suggest Klopp’s men will do just that.
