Man United star now 10/11 for Everton switch – 1/2 for January move

Published:

The January transfer window is just around the corner, and as expected, a whole host of players are being linked with moves away from their current clubs. One of those is Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin, who is now just 1/2 to leave Old Trafford next month.

An unfortunate sufferer of second-season syndrome, the France international has seen a significant drop in Premier League game-time since Jose Mourinho took over at the Red Devils, and can only speak of 11 minutes of top-flight football so far this campaign.

And it’s now likely that Goodison Park will be his next destination, with Everton now odds-on at 10/11 to sign Schneiderlin.

It’s no surprise to see the Toffees linked with the central-midfielder, either. After all, it was current boss Ronald Koeman who brought the best out of Schneiderlin while the pair were both at Southampton.

In the two years the Dutch boss spent on the south-coast, he used the 27-year-old on a whopping 62 occasions in the league, missing games only through injury.

There was talk of a move taking place last summer, but that soon fizzled out.

Things have drastically changed since then though – Schneiderlin’s time at United looks all but up and Everton are in desperate need of some fresh legs in their engine room for the second-half of the season.

He may be valued at £23.8m by transfermarkt.co.uk, but so seemingly surplus to requirements is the Frenchman at Old Trafford, there’s no way Jose can demand that much for him.

Everton were looking to add Moussa Sissoko to their ranks on Deadline Day in the summer for a fee of £30m, but he opted to join Tottenham Hotspur, leaving the Toffees one man short in the middle of the park.

And given that Everton were willing to part with that sort of money for Sissoko, there’s certainly cash available to Koeman to spend in January.

On that basis, we’re expecting this deal to cross the line at the earliest opportunity.

How do Everton fans feel about this news? And will United supporters be happy to see the back of Schneiderlin?
