Next Swansea manager: How the odds have changed

Swansea City - Liberty Stadium

It’s a job that seemingly everybody is in the mix for, yet apparently nobody wants. That’s right, we have a new odds-on favourite at 2/5 for the current managerial vacancy at Swansea. But how have the odds fluctuated over the last few days?

It’s started off with Ryan Giggs being an almost certain immediate replacement to the recently sacked Bob Bradley.

The Manchester United legend entered the market as 4/6 favourites before spending a couple of days around the 3/1 mark, and now he’s drifted out to 16s.

Out of the running? Don’t hold your breath…

Another name that was linked with the post was current Wales manager Chris Coleman. In fact, the former Fulham boss has spent more time at the head of the market than any other runner.

Available earlier in the week at 6/4, it seemed the 46-year-old would be returning to club management with the Swans.

But then came this tweet from his other half…

So can we rule CC out of the running? Probably, although punters can get odds of 10/1 for him to change his mind.

Though he’s yet to find himself at the head of the market, former Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has been there or thereabout for the last few days, despite entering the market as a 20/1 outsider.

Right now he’s the 9/2 second-favourite for the position. Would he be up for it? Almost definitely. But is it a choice Swans fans would agree with?

Enough about the outsiders though, it’s time to take a quick look at the now-clear favourite for the vacant role.

When our traders priced up a list of potential replacements following Bradely’s departure, Paul Clement’s name was nowhere to be seen.

But fast-forward three days and there he is, seemingly running away with it at 2/5.

Installed as 11/4 second-favourite late yesterday afternoon, the Bayern Munich assistant has since seen his odds slashed substantially.

Though he’s hardly a name that’ll fill Swansea supporters with confidence about their side’s survival chances this year, it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll soon take over the reins.
