Odds suggest Everton will secure deal for EFL’s hottest prospect

Published:

Everton were laughing all the way to the bank back in the summer when they sold John Stones to Manchester City for £50m, having bought him for £3m just three years before.

And it looks as though the Toffees have found themselves another EFL gem in Ademola Lookman, who is now just 1/10 to sign for the Merseyside outfit.

Granted, they’ll have to part ways with roughly £10m for the 19-year-old’s services. But Ronald Koeman is obviously convinced it’s a price worth paying having fought off the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham for what has the potential to be one of the club’s biggest ever signings.

So who exactly is Ademola Lookman, and what can fans expect to see from him?

Well, not very much in the short-term, it seems. On signing the striker when the January transfer window opens, it’s likely he’ll be loaned back immediately to his current club, Charlton Athletic, for the remainder of the season.

In terms of playing style, he’s similar to Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, Lookman can operate from either the left-hand side or through the middle.

And despite only recently turning 19, he already has 10 goals to his name for the Addicks’ first-team.

He’s no stranger to the international scene either, representing England U19s and U20s on seven occasions combined this year.

Confident on the ball with both feet, and intelligent in his runs off it, Lookman will certainly benefit from playing the ‘Koeman way’, with the Dutch boss keen on exploiting the width of the field throughout the game.

And if you were wondering whether the interest from the country’s top clubs has gone to Lookman’s head, it’s worth noting that he netted the winner for Charlton on Boxing Day against MK Dons.

It’s likely plenty of Toffees supporters will be spending the next few days checking out Ademola Lookman compilation videos on YouTube.

Our answer to that? Sit back and enjoy, because he’s on his way.

What do fans think of this news? Are you excited to see him in an Everton shirt, or is £10m a lot to part with for such a young player?
