The five transfer sagas that we really need an answer to

Few things in football are straightforward these days, and that especially goes for transfers. With January right around the corner, we felt it high-time to discuss five deals which have threatened to materialise for months on end, but have yet to come to fruition.

Premier League bosses up and down the land will be desperately hoping to land themselves someone else’s unwanted stars, and looking at our list, there are more than a few up for grabs.

But will these deals ever actually go ahead? Or will they continue to do nothing more but fill-up the back-pages and football gossip columns?

So without further ado, let’s get into it…

Saido Berahino

Nobody quite knows what the situation with Saido Berahino and West Brom is. All we can deduce is that the Baggies won’t sell him unless what they believe to be the right bid comes in. Until then they will keep paying his wages and leaving him out of the side.

That doesn’t sound logical to us, and a move to Stoke is now entering its third year of rumour milling.

There’s no doubting the forward has bags of potential, but it’s never going to be unleashed at the Hawthorns. The 23-year-old’s career desperately needs a kick-start, and we desperately need this on-and-off situation to be over.

If Berahino is Ross from Friends then Stoke are his Rachel.

Carlos Bacca

Arsenal want him. West Ham want him. PSG and Barcelona want him. Over the last few months AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca has been set for a move across most of western Europe.

The Colombian has netted 24 goals in just 52 appearances for I Rossoneri, but club and player have never seemed a happy fit.

He may be 30, but if someone snaps him up in the near future – especially so if they do so next month – they will be landing one of the continent’s top strikers.

Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge may have netted 21 goals in just 29 games three seasons ago, but that isn’t enough to convince Jurgen Klopp he’s worthy of a starting spot at Anfield.

Reports of an exit have been ongoing for months now, and West Ham are the side most often tipped with a bid for the England international. But a move to Stoke or perhaps Southampton shouldn’t be ruled out either.

Still only 27, Sturridge still has plenty to offer a top-half Premier League outfit.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The Borussia Dortmund hotshot has been linked with a Premier League move for well over 18 months now, but no club have yet to launch a serious bid.

Now 27 and at the peak of his powers – and with 16 goals from 15 Bundesliga games – Aubameyang has never been in better form.

A move to one of the Manchester clubs looks most likely, but which one? United fans will be dreaming of the striker teaming up with Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic next season.

Joe Hart

The England international isn’t going to become Pep Guardiola’s number one at Manchester City, despite what Claudio Bravo continues to do between the sticks back in England.

Exiled to Italian outfit Torino, Hart himself has said his stay in Turin is only temporary.

One of the best goalkeepers in the business is readily available next summer, or before, and is a dream signing for someone.

How about a swap from Manchester blue to red? Real Madrid may well go back in for David de Gea this summer now that their transfer embargo has been eased.
