CONFIRMED: Watford agree £20m deal with China for Odion Ighalo

Just a year ago he was the hero of Watford, but now Odion Ighalo looks set to leave Vicarage Road, with the Chinese Super League capturing their latest Premier League export.

The Hornets have confirmed that they have agreed a £20m deal with Changchun Yatai, who finished 12th in the CSL last season.

Ighalo said last summer that when the time was right he would move, and after falling out of favour with Walter Mazzarri, it appears that time has now come.

The 27-year-old joined Watford in 2014 from Udinese, and his 20 goals in the Championship fired the Hertfordshire club into the Premier League.

And a stunning return of 15 goals last season ensured the Hornets stayed up.

The move may concern a few of the Vicarage Road faithful, with Watford dropping down the table in recent weeks.

Mazzarri has seen his side fail to win their last seven Premier League games, and they sit eight points above the drop zone.

And an exit to Championship side Millwall in the Emirates FA Cup last weekend only heightened the growing pressure on the Italian.

It seems unlikely that Watford will reinvest the Ighalo money before Tuesday night’s deadline, so it remains to be seen how they get on in the coming months.

The Hornets head to Arsenal tomorrow night, but our odds of 12/1 for three points highlights the scale of the task that lies ahead at the Emirates.
