Expect more Liverpool goals and Swansea woes at Anfield this weekend

Look away now, Swansea City fans, because we just can’t see anything other than a Liverpool win this weekend. Three points for the hosts would keep them well in the title race, while defeat for the visitors would be their seventh in eight outings in all competitions.

If, like us, you’re looking for better value than the 2/9 currently on offer for Jurgen Klopp’s men to get back to winning ways in the Premier League, then keep reading.

Ladbrokes News takes you through our Top Bets for the first top-flight game of the weekend, as well as the odd statistic for good measure…

Clumsy Swans could pay the penalty

On average, Swansea are committing 12 fouls per game this season – that’s more than 12 other sides in the top-flight right now.

And it’s worth noting that they’ve conceded two penalties in their last three meetings with Liverpool, both of which have been slotted away by James Milner.

That, coupled with the fact that no side have been awarded more penalties than the Merseyside outfit this season (6) – all of which have been taken and scored by Milner – means there could be great value in a wincast.

Top Bet – Liverpool to win and James Milner to score @ 9/4

High-scoring Reds can build on their goal difference

It’s frightening to think about what dire straits Swansea would be in now had it not been for Lukas Fabianski.

On face value, that seems a strange statement, given that he’s already conceded 49 goals this season. But only three goalkeepers have made more saves than the former Arsenal man (64).

There’s only so much the 6ft 3in man can do though, and it’s inevitable he’ll be busy on Saturday afternoon.

On 10 occasions in all competitions this campaign, Liverpool have scored three or more goals in a game. In contrast, the Swans have conceded three or more 11 times.

With that in mind, our next bet is pretty easy to figure out…

Top Bet – Liverpool to win by two or more @ 6/4

Expect Klopp’s top dogs to fly out the traps

Against sides currently in the bottom-half of the table, Liverpool have been losing after 30 minutes only once this season. Ironically, the only side to take an early lead was Swansea, although they did go on to lose the match 2-1.

The Reds have led after half an hour in 14 of their 28 games this season in all competitions, with six of those coming against bottom-half sides in the Premier League.

And given that Klopp’s men finally put an end to a four-game winless run in the week away at Plymouth Argyle, it’s likely he’ll want his players to fly out the traps this weekend to build on the momentum gained for the Emirates FA Cup victory.
